We like to fancy that upon walking through the curtains of death, the essence that embodies our particular being ascends in a gilded merkaba to the celestial heavens to live in eternity. But, we are all made of bone and grit and ultimately rise and return to the earth.
As the piece ages, the brass patinas- a reminder that all things change. From this, beauty can be experienced from Time's haste. The minute moments of change are infinitely happening without attention, and to consciously experience it, is a revelatory experience.
So then there is eventual acceptance that dying and decay, or returning to the earth, can be as macro and microcosmically graceful as the mythology of ascension.
